Hudak looks to boost manufacturing jobs

London has become a hot destination for political A-listers.

Andrea Horwath of the NDP, Kathleen Wynne of the Liberals, Mike Schreiner of the Green and Tim Hudak of the conservatives.

All have visited London at least once leading into the August 1 byelection and Hudak returned to town Thursday for his second visit in recent weeks.

He was joined by Ali Chahbar ? his candidate in London West ? along with Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton.

The three were touring the area Thursday to promote a plan they say can bring 300,000 manufacturing jobs in four years.

?I believe we can turn this (economy) around,? said Hudak. ?We can make the best, state of the art, high quality products.?

Hudak said that increasing manufacturing costs in Asia will provide the opportunity to bring back jobs to Ontario.

Chahbar said jobs are a top priority for voters in London West.

But no matter what happens in the upcoming byelection, Conservatives will lack the political clout necessary to force the plan through ? the Liberals are guaranteed to retain their minority.

"(The byelection is) not going to change the standings,? acknowledged Hudak. But he added he would be happy to see the Liberals take up the cause, even if they took credit.

?As long as it gets done.?
