At the recent CES 2013 event in Las Vegas Sony took the opportunity to unveil two new premium models in the shape of the new Sony Xperia ZL and Xperia Z. Many regions in the world may only see one of these exciting new phones released but it looks as though Canada can look forward to both models arriving in their market.
Smartphone consumers in Canada will be delighted by the news that the Sony Xperia XL and Xperia Z will both get a release in the country. This latest new surfaced on Twitter via the official Sony Mobile page with a tweet that read ?yes, both the Z and ZL will be coming to Canada?. Both of these models fall within the premium smartphone bracket and both offer some excellent specification although it is the Xperia Z that is classified as the flagship model thanks to its IP57 certification which means that it is both water and dust resistance. There is no news at present about other markets across the globe and whether they will see both models although we do know that both the UK and Australia can expect to see the Xperia Z model released.
At the end of 2012 top executives form Sony announced that they would be releasing models in 2013 that could rival other premium devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S3. The new Sony Xperia XL and Xperia Z look very much like the devices that these bold statements relate to. The new Sony Xperia ZL has the smaller footprint of the two devices and measures just 131.6mm by 69.3mm but it is also 2mm deeper at 9.8mm. Apart from these slight differences in size and the lack of water and dust resistance on the ZL device the specification of the two models is identical. Both handsets offer a large 5 inch Full HD display and a powerful Snapdragon quad core processor chip.
In the UK we will have to wait and see whether the new Sony Xperia ZL will be released along with the Xperia Z but Canadian consumers can look forward to the release of both handsets.
